BACK ON THE MOUNTAIN AGAIN!!  YAY!

My sister, Dianne, and I took our four poodles out for a nice walk on the trails at the base of Mt. Greylock in Adams, MA.  There were ponds and trails, birds singing, other dogs being walked, beautiful blue skies and perfect temperature.  They found a little stream to splash through and enjoyed some good, hard runs....something we all need after a long winter spent inside.

Next week, after Labor Day, the mountain will be open again to go to the top!  We can't wait to get up there in the fresh air and the pines to take in the great vistas of the beautiful Berkshires and Vermont.

Chantel Tries Her Hand At Motherhood

CHANTEL WANTS TO BE MOMMA TOO!

Chantel, our two-year-old apricot, has been dying of curiosity about all the noisy little critters in the whelping box.  Grace wouldn't let her in for the first couple weeks or so.  On this particular day, she finally gave in and let Chantel try out her mothering skills.

It was really quite funny to watch.  Chantel sniffed and nudge puppies.  She tried the front ends and then the back ends.  Finally she laid down with them.  One touched her leg and she popped it up in the air as if the pup were carrying the plague!  LOL

 OK!  Where do I start?

DID THAT THING JUST MAKE A NOISE!?

AND THERE'S ANOTHER ONE!

You all smell sooooo good!  You're mom, Grace, is taking really good care of you.

I sure do need to get a handle on this by next year 'cause I heard that I am having little things like you too.

Chantel is just a sweetheart with the babies.  She will be bred next year for our second litter.  We have not decided on the male for her yet.

Grace Whelps Her First Litter of Standard Poodle Puppies!

This is the first Standard Poodle puppy litter for Wispynook Poodles!  We are quite pleased with the cross between Wispynook's Amazing Grace of Sirius and Ch. By Request I'm All Snowed In Thank God!

This mating produced 8 large and very healthy puppies.  We have 1 white male, two white females, two cream females, one blue male and two blue females.  They were born on Easter Sunday morning beginning at 5:20 a.m. and finishing up at 8:25 a.m.  That was one mighty quick whelping of 8 pups for a first time mother.

Dianne and I stayed up for two days and nights to be sure we were with her and watch that all went well.  By the time the pups arrived, we were somewhat in la-la land....LOL  Somehow, we managed to get all cleaned, weighed, sexed, colored ribbon tied and put on a teat for their first meal.

After having the puppies temperament and conformation tested, we will be donating one puppy to an organization that trains dogs to be companions to veterans.
We are VERY excited about this!

Puppies up and getting around before three weeks of age!  Purple ribbon male is our biggest boy and quite a looker!

BABIES WEAR OUT QUICKLY AT THIS AGE!

IT JUST DOESN'T GET ANY BETTER THAN THIS!
