Practicing my grooming skills

Dianne leaves her poodles with me most Wednesdays to give our dogs a play date to run around our fields together having a good time. Yesterday, poor little jester, her toy poodle, looked like he got rolled around the swamp by our standard poodles. He needed a clipping too so I brought him in the house and did a full grooming on him. It gave me a chance to practice my skills and it sure mad him look pretty!

Yep, that's my tortoiseshell kitty, Isis, laying behind Jester. She just jumped off the table onto the grooming table and decided to take her nap there. She is a really funny little girl!

Jester is in the lion cut and needs to grow a bit more coat before he can be groomed the way it should look.

Fishing, Scenery, Poodles

Yes! We finally went fishing last Friday. We took all of the poodles so they could have playtime and then settled everyone while Dianne and I fished. We went to the State Park off Rt. 9 toward Bennington, VT. The dogs must have thought they died and went to Heaven! LOL

As
the sun began to set the black flies were profuse but the lighting was pretty. We rolled up our pant legs and walked out up to our knees and cast into the sky and forest reflecting into the water. Dianne caught seven brookies and I caught five. We split them evenly for a couple of meals each and, boy, were they delicious!!

My little Taffy decided that fish is GOOD! She was eating the heads and innards as each was caught and cleaned. Then Dianne threatened me about her vomiting it all up on the way home. Darn, never thought about that... She was so excited about fish that when Dianne let one go that was smaller than she wanted to keep, Taffy jumped right into the pond and caught it! LOL It was a little too strong for her to hang on to it and managed to get back out to water.

Well, Taffy didn't get sick on the way home but I sure was sorry the next morning when I opened the door to the garage and could smell the results from the door. Needles to say, her crate had to be completely cleaned. She didn't get sick but she did have diarrhea and you can bet I won't be doing that again.

Mommy, I'm sorry.

Keeping busy with the poodles

Well, I finally did it. I have entered Billy in his first show in the puppy class for June 12th. He is coming along nicely with his coat although I am not really sure where to set his lines for his clip.

I actually live somewhere where I cannot find one single groomer who cuts show clips!!! ARGH! Hopefully we will find a really nice poodle person at the show who will be willing to help us or there will actually be a real show groomer there to do the proper clip. Talk about flying by the seat of your pants!

Working on Business Plan

I am excited about being referred to BROC in Bennington, VT for help with writing a business plan a possibly getting some financial assistance to get my business started properly.

Right now I am up to my eyeballs in paperwork but enjoying every minute of it. It could take several months to complete this so I am having to be very patient and am working with Ellen on weddings and expect to be doing more work for Irene in the future.

I have a prom to photograph on May 30th and am very nervous and excited at the same time. This will be the first time that I do this kind of a session. Hoping all will go well and everyone will be happy.

A Day Out With The Dogs

It was going to be a nice day so they said. (who are 'they' anyway?) Well, Dianne and I had already left home to pick up a couple of things and then take the dogs for an outing. So when it clouded up and threatened rain, we sucked it up and kept on going.

Fortunately, as we got everyone out of the car, the sprinkles stopped and we took a nice, leisurely walk half way around Bog Pond on Florida/Savoy Mt. The dogs were in their glory and Dianne and I had a lot of fun taking shots of them. There was chase games, and a little water play, and big discoveries such as Canada Geese, nice muddy spots that a large moose had walked through and the dogs thoroughly enjoyed running through.

Did I ever tell you how long it takes to groom one standard poodle? Pfffft! So we have a full day of cleaning our dogs up and grooming them back out again.

Billy fell in! LOL

Jester, NOT THE FIRE PIT!!

What's that crazy noise I hear?

Oh, oh! A very angry Canada Goose!

OMG! Taffy, whatever happened to you? LOL

Saw this on our way and had to stop to get some pics.

After our hike we took the dogs (and us too, of course) to Burger King for some much needed nourishment and drink. The dogs just love chicken tenders. Then it was time for all our fur balls to pass out in the back seat.

And, yes, a good time was had by all...
